Editorial Reviews:

Pink, pink, pink. More than anything, Pinkalicious loves pink, especially pink cupcakes. Her parents warn her not to eat too many of them, but when Pinkalicious does . . . she turns pink! What to do?

This sparkling picture book, filled with such favorites as pink bubble gum, pink peonies, pink cotton candy, and pink fairy princess dresses, celebrates all things pink while showing that being yourself is best of all.

Summary: Favorite!
Comment: This is my daughter's (age 3-1/2) favorite book! She can "read" it to us almost verbatim because we've read it so many times. It has inspired us to make our own Pinkalicious cupcakes, although we don't eat as many as the book's main character. I know some people complain that it has a negative spin on healthy food, but my daughter already has the concept of good food versus junk food, so for us it was not an issue. She knows too many pink cupcakes will give you a tummy-ache or cause you to throw up. The illustrations are very whimsical and interesting even for Mom.

Summary: Just for fun!
Comment: Both of my girls(5 &2) love this book. It has had no impact on their love of vegetables nor has it encouraged disrespectful behavior. My 5 year olds favorite line is "you get what you get and you don't get upset". My daughter even dressed as Pinkalicious for Halloween. She looked adorable. I'm not sure why so many reviewers are overly concerned about the "lesson" of the book. I feel very comfortable in the lessons that my children learn from me and the wide variety of books that we read. My daughters fully appreciate the difference between reality and books. We also have David Shannon's A Bad Case of the Stripes and that is another favorite.

Summary: This is NOT a book to teach life lessons people!
Comment: My daughter loves this book and I can't believe that people are taking this so seriously! If you are looking for a book to read about good manners then this is not it. If you are looking to get a few silly laughs from your pink-loving little girl then buy it. My daughter is almost six and she knows that the little girl in the story is acting naughty but I would have never thought to not read the story to her b/c she may replicate that behavior. It's a silly story people! We like to joke around and laugh in our household so maybe that's why I like it and YES my kids DO eat vegetables. ;)

Summary: I agree - Bad examples for kids
Comment: I agree with many of the other reviewers here. I LOVE the illustrations and the story idea is so cute! (we love pink) BUT... there is too much bad behavior in this book. We all know how much little ones like to replicate. Unfortunately, this book gives a lot of bad ideas for kids to copy. Sticking tongue out at Mommy, climbing furniture, being rude and the worst to me was talking about veggies in a negative manner. My girls love veggies! I don't want them to get the idea that veggies are gross!

It is unfortunate the bad behavior is in this book because I really like the "idea" and the illustrations.

Summary: A fun book
Comment: The little girl of this story just loves the color pink, and when her mother makes some absolutely pinkalicious cupcakes she just cannot get enough. Indeed, she eats so many that she turns pink all over - what can be better than that? However, when she goes too far, she finds that you can indeed get too much of a good thing. It's a lesson learned, that the best thing to be is just you!

This is a fun book. My four-year-old and I enjoyed the little girl's antics - she didn't listen to her parents, but she learned her lesson. The pictures are brightly colored and quite funny, as is the off-beat story. We both enjoyed this story, and we think that you and your young reader will as well!
